BURMA: The Rohingya
Several thousand Rohingya live in the coastal area of Shamlapur. They work as exploited laborers on fishing boats owned by local Bangladeshi. Most are trapped into debt bondage to Bangladeshi boat owners who threaten to turn them into the authorities. Their debts increase every year and are passed from one generation to the next.
